Sounds lovely cackleberry, bit of a trek for us, but I'm sure there must be others nearby.
ION, Bella is back home. Still waiting for the first number 2, but judging by the farts it will be a stinky one. Now to manage 10 days of complete rest while still trying to work (last week of semester).

So having decided not to keep Flossie's insurance cover a trip to the vets today was the first step in a process which will relieve us of at least £1400. She has a cyst on her eyelid which needs removal as it's irritating her eye. A week of chloramphenicol cream to see if it settles a bit but if it doesn't, that'll be £1000 for removal under GA and £300 for histology to check it's nothing more sinister. Today's consultation and meds were £100+.
Even with these eye-watering sums (sorry, bad joke) if she needs no further interventions this year it's still only half if what Direct Line wanted.
The good news is that the eyelid doesn't seem to be bothering her in the slightest.

Glad to hear it's not bothering her at least. But with no insurance cover I'd suggest keeping mince pies, Christmas pudding and actually probably just about everything in the kitchen on a very high shelf or tightly closed cupboard this Christmas!

We are thinking of cutting out the insurance next year. We currently payout around £220 per month in total for both Cookie and Phoebe.
They are in thyroid medication for life but we’ve just recently discovered the joys, and reduced cost, of getting a written prescription and ordering online.
On top of our monthly total we also pay a set chunk in excess and a percentage of the claim on top when we do claim.
We are thinking of opening an account solely for dog costs.

Bella is doing well. Up to 10 minute walks now, although we still need to control how much she eats and make sure it's only the prescribed food, nothing else.
