We've also come home to discover that between Wednesday evening and now Shadow has apparently almost completely lost the use of his legs, which is extremely concerning.

But the dog sitter has just said something in the group chat that makes me wonder if she had been giving Bel's anti-seizure medication to Shadow instead of to Bel...

It would neatly explain why Bel started having seizures and Shadow suddenly seems like he's doped up to the eyeballs, but could it really be that simple?

Fingers crossed for them both and it's a simple fix.

That *would* explain it though.

Looking more closely at the notes from the vet the dog sitter took Bel to, they thought she wasn't on any medication, so it seems fairly certain that the dog sitter got confused.
I called the emergency vet line to check if we should do anything specific, if that's indeed what's up with him, and that agreed they his symptoms are classic phenoral overdose, but as if it's been going on for days there's no point pumping his stomach, and as they were 'only' regular doses (albeit quite high ones) rather than one really huge overdose, hopefully he'll just get better over the next few days as it gets out of his system.

I was seriously worried we'd get home to find him no longer breathing on the back seat of the car, but he's walked around a bit, and eaten very eagerly, so it's looking fairly hopeful.

That’s awful Rae.
I hope both the pups start showing signs of improvement now they’re back with you.

Shadow is improving, gently snoring at my feet currently. Bel is really stressed, the strong drugs we have to give her to stop the seizures really affects her memory and vision, she hasn't stopped pacing around since we got home 4 hours ago. Because we need to let the normal medication kick in such takes a while we probably have a couple of days before we can get Bel somewhat back to normal, end of the week realistically...

Dog sitter has confirmed that she thought the daily anti seizure drugs for Bel (in a box with her name on our, and the dog doseage instructions, in Dutch) were heart medicine shadow (who has never been on heart medicine), and that agreed been giving him 1 and 3/4 pills twice a day (it should have been 1 and 1/4).

I don't think we'll be taking the dogs to that sitter again.

She does feel terrible, now she knows what she's done, and has offered to pay us back the vet fees, since the whole thing was entirely her fault.

But I'm still concerned that she didn't apparently see a problem with Shadow going from dancing and singing for his food the first night he was there to barely able to stand just a couple of nights later.
