That’s definitely a bit concerning, but I’m glad you worked out what was going on and it wasn’t anything more sinister- hopefully no lasting after effects!

Very concerning. Not surprised you won't want to use her again.

Oh dear at least you know, glad you picked up on it. I hope both hounds are back to themselves quickly.

They are getting there. Shadow is still about wobbly, and getting up the stairs last night was a bit of a struggle for him. With Bel we won't know properly until this evening / tomorrow, when she comes off the hardcore anti-seizure meds as they always make her confused and act weird, but she is improving at least.

She's an odd one our Bel, almost back to her usual weird self now.

That's a scary story - I hope both dogs get back to 'normal' asap.

Jet update.
The antibiotic gave us back a dog with interest in life. Two week of Vivatonin have made Jet a bit more alert and he's had more energy. We've had several 'mad moments' with him throwing toys in the air. He's even managed to race around the garden once each day, which has been fun to see.
He's still a bewildered old boy with arthritis, minimal hearing and some vision loss, but it's an improvement.
The night pacing and anxiety hasn't stopped, and we've continued taking turns to stay up with him all night. The vet told me that old dogs will force themselves to stay awake at night because they are anxious, and suggested a coping strategy for all of us.
Last night it was my turn to sleep and Mr's turn to stay up with the dog. I gave Jet his first ever dose of Diazepam. For the first time in months Jet and Mr slept all night, until 6am. Amazing. And Jet was awake during the day seeking out 'interesting' things (mischief - I've had to hide my knitting).
Jet has had his second Diazepam dose tonight and has fought the effects of the drug really hard. I'm sitting with him, and even now he's lifting his head every few minutes to check that I'm here. It's like getting a toddler to sleep.

I’m really glad that Bel and Shadow are recovering. It’s really quite worrying that the dog sitter made such a dangerous mistake. Do they have to be registered over there?

Lovely to hear Jet is enjoying some aspects of life. You must all be exhausted though with the night time anxiety.
