A somewhat more optimistic bulletin on Flossie! We got an appointment for her at the 3rd vets we tried (who happened to be the close but hidden away down a little lane even I hadn't run down before) and with some encouragement we got her up on her feet and into the car. Abd when it came to walking into the vets you'd have thought there was nothing wrong with her Anyway, a very good check over, nothing physiologically obvious, so the thinking is 'ate something in the park when OH wasn't looking' - seagull poo is a strong candidate! She had a big drink when we got home but promptly threw that back up, but since then I've given her somd paracetamol as advised by the vet (instead of her usual Metacam) and kept a watching brief. After an hour I offered her a spoonful of 'gastrointestinal food' from the vets - she's turned it down but has had another drink abd this time it's stayed down and she's less drooly. I was very impressed with the vets - they had already contacted our vets at home to check her medical history by the time we got there (and our vets had contacted me to check that was ok!) and the consultation fee plus the food and a kaolin paste were a fraction of our normal vets' fees!

Glad you found a good vet. Sounds as if Flossie is on the mend. Keep us posted xx

What a relief! Hopefully Flossie will be 100% back to normal very soon.

Hope Flossie is soon feeling much better. Good to hear the vets were on the ball - hope you won't need them again but at least you know about them now. "Eating something on a walk when OH wasn't looking" - ah yes we have been down that route as well.

Phew - scary.
When I brought Jet home from the vet a week ago he was lying in the back of the car and simply looked up at me without lifting his head. Fortunately he recovered well and since Tuesday("the biggest poo I've ever seen him do" said Mr), Jet has been well.
His snake-oil 'supplements' for his brain appear to be making a difference to his general energy levels and he's been going out for walks again, but the dementia-type behaviour is increasing. His recent panic at being shut in anywhere has resulted in all our downstairs doors being badly scratched. Dogs eh?
Wishing Flossie and Cookie better.

Poor Jet. It's really sad to see our much loved dogs age isn't it.
Flossie is fully fit again, still refusing to use her new bed 🙄 and clearly rather sad this morning that her breakfast has returned to the usual dry food with no canned meaty chunks in gravy added to tempt her 😁

Marvin had a thorny thing attached to his leg on yesterday's walk. Wouldn't let me near him, would have thought I was trying to murder him the way he squealed, he sort or went for me too and then bolted. His dementia is getting worse but hoping the going for me was a one off 🙏
