Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Does the bump feel different to a fatty lipoma Baroness? Flossie is slowly developing a couple of these but as she's had a good check over very recently I'm assuming that's what they are but maybe we should get them checked? (Elderly Labs are prone to them).

Anyway, all the very best for Wanda the Wonder Dog! xx

It is quite a small bump but grew very fast and looked a bit red and sore last week. We were at the vets for her regular blood tests anyway so they put a needle in it and found the mast cells. The mast cell tumours can cause an allergic reaction (that's how we found out about the big one on her head no longer being benign) hence the signs that this new one (on a back leg) was probably something other than a normal fatty lump. Staffies are also prone to them. Fortunately the vet is fairly sure the insurance will at least make a contribution to this one although as Wanda is older we have to pay the excess and 20%.

Quite: 'Poor Wanda'. And poor Baroness and Baron. Hope Wanda does as well after her op as she did after that big one last time. She's a tough little character! xxx

Wanda is home, a bit spaced out still from the anaesthetic but in her bed snoozing. We have a cone for her but she only needs to wear it if she starts licking/biting her stitches. She was not at all happy this morning to a) miss breakfast b) go out first thing in the rain to go in the car c) arrive at the vets - where she lay down and refused to get out of the car and then had to be carried into the vets as well!

Hopefully she'll sleep well tonight! We'll hear more about what the histology from the lump has shown in a few days time I guess.

You are correct - it wasn't easy to carry her in :-) Nor to lift her out of the car boot as she pressed herself against the back seat.

Remarkably, considering the operation was on her leg she jumped back into the car when we collected her with more energy than we've seen in a while. :-)

She is still feeling very hard done by this morning. She's been looking at the spot where the sun usually comes in in the morning and glaring at us because it's raining and we're probably to blame for that too!
