I should try again soon, seeing that I haven't been to any blacklisted countries recently - maybe eat a nail or two beforehand to increase iron levels.

Does anyone know why one can't give blood when one has a cut or bruise anywhere, even just a minor one?

I'm in your gang HellsBells

Tried quite a few times but my blood wouldnt sink in the pre test, then the 1st time I was successful I developed a severe headache for weeks, the next time my blood test thing wouldnt work again and when they tested my blood they said I had very low iron count and not to go back :(:(

Going this Friday, but that means I have to do my run in the morning before work rather than after the donation in the evening - another early start doh!

Spiced apple, that's because there's a miniscule chance that it could affect the clotting around the injuries and/or the more likely option of them taking longer to heal with less blood to sustain their repair.

Not that I'm competitive or anything, but next time you give blood ask them what your "flow rate" is. Scale is 1 to 9 with anything under 2 being a dribble that means you've dried up. I hit 8 last night, which is why I was done in about 7 mins flat! Oh and then we can start a list and a league of how many units you've given and platelets count as x 10 in a Weighted Average. Sir Fetch, Sir Fetch, more pages reuired pls!! :-)G

I'm a 9 every time, I only know as they comment on it every time too. Probably cause I've usually gone there straight from the gym and a hot shower! So :-p lol
