I gave an armful a week ago. I've been running like a slug on Mogadon ever since.

46 down, and enough time to make the century before I'm superannuated :)

My life was saved by receiving several pints of blood after a serious road accident in 1985.
It is the ultimate irony that because of that, I'm now unable to give blood:-(
Seems so unfair.

Whereas I've given 6 times my blood volume, yet me and mine have never needed any. It's one of the few opportunities we have for a public gesture of altruism :)

I think most of those of us who give blood appreciate being able to do something useful with so little personal cost and inconvenience :)

Haven't given in ages due to various combinations of swine flu/travel history. Last time I went was totally unimpressed to wait 45 minutes to see a healthcare assistant who then had to fetch a nurse to tell me I couldn't donate because I'd seen my doctor the previous day for a still-being-investigated sore foot.

Grumpy as it made me (and it wasn't the first occasion they've wasted significant chunks of my time) I probably will go back, because it's someone else who benefits...
