Background : yesterday, a lot of clonking from the back of the car. When checked, the exhaust pipe/box bracket had broken.
Main dealer - didn't really want to know, they responded too quickly to my asking if Kwikfit (or similar) was a better route. The car is 17 years old, so any 'fault' could be it's last ...
Kwikfit - despite warnings that they couldn't do welding, they were able to check the car later yesterday afternoon. Took it in, they checked it, found the middle bracket was also virtually gone, but couldn't get the parts till today.
Today : Kwikfit called about 12:30 - all done and ready to collect.
Price - for 2 brackets and at least (I'd guess) 15-30 mins to fit (including the 10 - 15 mins checking on Friday) ... £15
And it comes with a year's guarantee!
I was very impressed, and it made me smile ... after imagining a 'minimum' bill would be £100 or so and/or ages to wait for the right parts.

Baby starlings on our lawn: 25 of them (roughly) - we generally don't see any starlings at all.
