A new Serial series came out today: the Coldest Case In Laramie.
I’ve been doing a particularly boring job today and I’ve binged the lot. It’s as good as you’d expect from Serial.

A few changes - A few sample episodes of Tech Life on the Click feed - I won't be subscribing.
The Ubuntu UK feed has been resurrected with a new show from the same crew called Linux Matters so that will remain.
Also continuing to slowly work my way through the HPR audio bookclub. Just finished Cybrosis by P C Haring and next up will be Triplanetary by E E Smith

The faux-Duran intro to the Simon Le Bon episode of SmartLess is wonderful. Recommend turning off before Mr Le Bon actually appears though - the interview is a car crash.

Cancel. It's nowhere near as good as the faux-Depeche Mode one for the Dave Gahan / Martin Gore episode (#151). Good interview too.

Dave Gahan is an altogether more, erm, colourful character than I'd realised.

My son has put me on to a pod called “Behind the Bastards”. It’s basically a history pod about people who were, well, not very nice.
The reason he’s passed on his one on to me is that they’ve just finished a 6 parter on Vince McMahon, the owner of, and sometime performer in, WWE.
I’ve not listened yet (it’s about 9 hours worth!) but I understand it’s pretty damning.

Late to this podcasts thread. Have amassed so many I've listened to now, it's unbelievable. These are just the ones I liked, quite a few I don't list where I felt the need to drop after one episode.
Politics
Slowburn (The David Duke one is phenomenal, it's like clairvoyant about Trump) Fiasco (Al Gore/George Bush one - fascinating deep dive) This Land (Native American rights being destroyed - sobering) Mother Country Radicals (About left wing terrorists in the US told by the son of two of them, is amazing, jailbreaking Timothy Leary, avoiding jail despite several bombings - with fatalities - it's a true WTF one) Things Fell Apart (Jon Ronson on the birth of conspiracy theories - can't go wrong with Ronson) The Coming Storm (Excellent one on the rise of QAnon and other far right/far left conspiracy theories) Day X (Terrorists infiltrating the German army in last 20 years, fascinating "unknown" story)
History
The rest is history (of course) Empire (just started on this one, it's great - makes you want to go out and start a revolution, except we are the Nazis in this) The fall of the Roman Empire (very dry)
Esoterica
Weird Studies (art and philosophy podcast, Times loved it and described it as "somewhat pretentious" too, for fans of Twin Peaks, Victorian horror authors, Philip K Dick, psychedelics) Battersea Poltergeist/Witch Farm/Uncanny (Come on there must be some other uncanny fans on here???)
Chasing Consciousness (Some great interviews with top science authors like Carlo Rovelli, Paul Davies etc) Interdependence (Tech esoterica - the one on the cultural war the CIA waged in the 50s and 60s is mindblowing, the one on AI music with Dadabots is bonkers and great fun, Dadabots made an AI track with nuns singing death metal amongst other things) Future fossils (Utterly barking podcast covering all kinds of weird shit, gets a bit much at times)
Drama
Lovecraft Investigations (Clunky but fun, and the "history" in the episodes "Rendlesham incident", "Wicca attempt to curse/kill Hitler" is all based on real stories)
Other
S-Town (The king of podcasts, can't be described, just has to be listened to) The Trojan Horse Affair (same guy who did S-Town about the rise of Islamic fundamentalism in Birmingham schools or not)

Oh and of course Backlisted which I know Dio is also a fan of. Don't listen to Backlisted unless you're prepared to buy/borrow/steal loads of previously unheard of books.
