The full series of Haunter in the Dark has dropped this morning. It's downloaded while I was rowing and it's going to be binged when I start work. Episodes are only about 15 minutes each.

Yep, excellent. I really love the way they weave reality into their fiction. Very dark and sinister. Also odd to have Canewdon as a location (again I think) as it's just down the road from me here and I agree it's an odd place! |

I believe my late mother was born in Canewdon. Very odd place. |

Only another 179 to go and you're all caught up, Homer, except that by then there'll be another 100+ to work through. I told you it was good though, didn't I? Glad you're enjoying it so much. |

Have we talked about Empire on here? If not we should. It's really good. If we have and that's how I found it thanks because it's really good. I remember Anita from R5 Drivetime (I think) and did once "meet" her and her hubby when I recognised them at a comedy night they were at. Very nice people. And I instinctively didn't like William Dalrymple on first listening because he is so undeniably public school/old money posh but he seems a good bloke (should have trusted Anita's judgement) despite his ability to spoil the end of almost every story they tell! |

Empire is ace. And Dalrymple is extremely knowledgeable on all that he rights and opines. I have both his book on the Anarchy and Anita's on the Patient Assassin. Their episode on the Balfour declaration is necessary listening for those wanting a greater historical background to the Israel/Palestine conflict.

Hello - dropping in on HappyGrrr;s recommendation, having raved about the 13 Minutes to the Moon series. I also enjoy dipping into No Such Thing as a Fish, You're Dead to Me and one I don't think has been mentioned on this thread before - BBC Radio 4's Soul Music: bbc.co.uk This one I find it helps if you have some relationship with the music in question. But mainly it leaves me wondering where they find all the stories from. It seems my preference is for 'produced' series - any recommendations? |

I've not heard of Soul Music. Sounds interesting. Thanks for recommending it. Pushkin do a few podcasts that you might like. Cautionary Tales looks at why things have gone wrong and what we can learn from the mistakes made. I'm not selling it well but, for example, the episode looking at the collapse of a building walkway and why the engineers and builders should have known but somehow didn't is really well told. They've also done a recent series on the trial of Sam Bankman Fried for the Crypto Exchange fraud, and Malcolm Gladwell has a series on there which has recently looked at gun laws in the US and why they're viewed in such a polarised way. See also "Against the Rules" with Michael Lewis, Good Sport, Serial, S Town, The Kids of Rutherford County, The missing Crypoqueen, Power Corrupts, The People Vs J Edgar Hoover. |
