My back lawn can confirm this not to be the case. Thankfully, once you've hosepiped a cat up the arse a few times, you can scare it off just by opening the kitchen window and turning on a tap.]

Fresh in my memory at the time was a debate in my undergraduate days about whether a novel that had thundersnow could legitimately be described as 'realistic'. I may have written to my tutor to inform him.
