Mrs Jigs (Luverlylegs)
Many of the recipes I follow come from the internet, I was thinking about writing a blog with links to recipes that I did over Christmas, will do that later or tomorrow.

Smoky beans! That's the sort of thing I'd choose even in a non-vegan eating place.

Just be brave gang. Chillies, curries, stir frys, buddha bowls, salads, smoothies, overnight oats are all very easy and bar staple ingredients I never really know what is going in until I open the fridge or cupboard.
I think jackfruit and banana blossom serve a purpose if prepared properly, they must be rinsed, drained and squeezed out sufficiently. Then they do what it says on the tin and replace pulled pork, fish etc very well texture wise. Don't get me wrong they are not generally for me as I am not looking for meat substitutes per se but I can see why for those transitioning to a plant based diet they are good though.
Can I ask how many people here are actually vegan and which of you follow a plant based diet but don't lead a vegan lifestyle? I meet people in the shop everyday and it constantly surprises me that many can't distinguish between the two. Is there anybody here who needs clarification regards the different terms? It's not a bad thing and I am certainly not trying to judge just educate, where needed, although yes I think everyone should lead a vegan lifestyle
Peace.

To be fair I am plant based rather than vegan, although any purchases ie toiletries, make up and clothing I plan to try to ensure are vegan friendly in future, any tips would be really welcome.

Mrs J I think that makes you vegan? We can't change what we have done before and if you are planning to make all future purchases vegan that is all you can do. I still wear and use animal products that I have had for years. In fact I have only just changed my three piece suite from a leather one, not because it wasn't vegan but because after 30 years it just wasn't fit for purpose any more.
I think the key thing is to just try your best day by day. It is very difficult and there are many products out there that you wouldn't stop to think may not be vegan. Mistakes will be made. You just have to start again.
For me, and this will come across as purely selfish and is to a point, a key thing is to support vegan businesses where possible. Is it good that the large corporations are making a plant based diet, or vegan lifestyle, more accessible? Yes. Are they doing it because they care about the vegan cause? In most cases, No! So yes if you can avoid spending money in businesses that will continue to fund animal exploitation then all the better. I appreciate it is difficult for people though for both financial and convenience reasons.
