Purps
Most of the meat we buy is from a lovely farm shop, all well cared for type meat, it's a small percentage if we do get some precooked from the supermarket. While neither is vegan, I feel happier* about the farm shop stuff than the supermarket mass produced stuff. Thanks for the support. *not sure what the right word is, I hope you understand my point. |

I think happier is fine Purps and is in line with what Raemond says. To be completely ethical regards waste, animal rights, plastics etc etc is virtually impossible and I for one would be happier if we lived in a world where we all did a little bit to help. It seems clear on this thread and probably on Fetch in general that the majority are doing more than their fair share the majority of the time. I live very much day to day and just try to do the best things I can each day. It's a minefield though and if we let all the small things get to us it can become all consuming. I struggle with it for sure. Am I making sense? |

Mrs Jigs (Luverlylegs)
Jigs occasionally chooses plant based meals but is by no means vegan nor vegetarian, I cook whatever he wants, itโs his choice, I would never ask him to change his diet.

I have been following the plant based diet for 9 years now. When I started it was for health reasons (long story :)). My intention was to return to eating animals if I ever wanted. However, my health improved to the best ever state and i never looked back. I'm a fan of Deliciously Ella as her story resonates with me and I love her recipes. deliciouslyella.com |

Just searched back several pages on this thread - couldn't find a reference to this employment tribunal, citing 'ethical veganism as ... a philosophical belief' in the UK & elsewhere. theguardian.com |

Ligi, I've tripped over that site in the past. I've also enjoyed The Healthy Chef, who has a lot of vegan recipes too, including a raw vegan banoffee pie that is delicious. thehealthychef.com |

I agree with Terminator. You put it very well. Taking each day as it comes, thinking about our consumerism, how it effects us, and the planet. Its tough because our capitalist world is based around bottom line profits, and therefore theres a lot of smoke and mirrors to understanding what impact we are truly having- and realistically- what impact the so called eco choices we make really have. That said, I am persuaded that a fully vegan diet is more sustainable than a non vegan one. I eat knowing I am not responsible any longer for the pain and suffering inflicted by the meat industry - the makes the sacrifice of slightly shitter cheese worth it for me. I really love the positive, thoughtful responses on here, from meat eaters and vegans. There is no right or wrong, just opinions. We are all trying to find our own ways through the minefield For what its worth I have also run PBs at all distances as a Vegan, and have stopped taking meds completely for Asthma (I had quite bad Asthma , using steroids regularly- to now completely free) - I keep a puffer just in case but its out of date now I think. My resolution this year is to reduce my intake to processed vegan stuff, and connect more with actual real vegetables- plus other green type resolutions but lets see. To anyone thinking of having a go, perhaps for Veganuary , please just try, and you never know it may before you! Have a great New Year what ever your choices - |

Swittle thanks for that link. Very interesting and potentially groundbreaking. I will follow with interest. Mascott thanks. My target is to get back to a better diet, and running regularly, too. Is not a resolution as it starts today. I realise I must start creating good habits again but that in order to do so I have to allow myself some more me time. Again one day at a time. Best of luck to everyone attempting Veganuary or just trying to make positive changes in their life. Peace ๐ |

Done my first plant based shop and bought a bosh cook book too. I asked hubby if there was anything he really wanted as a last 'thing' answer was not really but I might get some chocolate. I couldn't really think of anything I desperately needed to 'have'. I'm taking this as a good sign atm but time will tell I guess. My main aims I guess are selfish. My body feels constantly inflamed and I'm hoping to see improvements in my health with digestive system, my asthma and the condition of my skin. I'm hoping to see benefits in weight loss and fitness as well as a byproduct. I have not been able to bring myself to watch some of the 'vegan' documentaries as I'm sure I'll find them way too distressing which I guess speaks for itself. Do I really need to watch them if I know they'll really upset me and I'm choosing to follow a plant based lifestyle? I guess everyone has there own reasons for doing what they do. A close family member has a serious medical 'diagnosis' which has added to my desire despite their 'diagnosis' not really being affected too much directly by this lifestyle. Sorry a bit cryptic but not really willing to go public on this atm. |
