The point about ethical veganism being a protected characteristic isn't being contested by the defendant so should be upheld.

Hope is going well for everyone attempting Veganuary and/or trying to eat a less processed vegan diet.

Swittle thanks again. Becca 🤞

Whilst I’m a million miles away from veganism, I don’t think the fact that LACS is not contesting the ethical veganism point will be setting any precedent, mainly because the court therefore won’t be making a judgement on it. The individual involved is making use of it being a political point.

WW, we’re in a similar position to you. We both eat a plant diet, don’t buy leather but wear leather that was bought years ago & have cats that eat meat. If it wasn’t for the cats we wouldn’t buy meat at all.

I’m of the opinion that if you have an animal in your care you are duty bound to do the best for that animal. That means feeding them meat if they’re obligate carnivores, like cats. I think dogs can survive on a vegetarian diet but they probably don’t thrive as well as when they eat meat, so although it’s possible to feed a dog without meat, I’m not convinced it’s ethical.
Hope that makes sense.

Captain I know a number of dogs thriving on a vegan diet but also dogs whose people are vegan yet feed the dog a meat diet as that is what they thrive on (or they have refused a vegan diet). So yes the animal welfare comes first.

Yes it does make sense Captain :-)

My dog is a 55kg rescue, she probably ate all sorts when she lived on the streets of Spain but the rescue fed her a raw meat diet with veg so we have continued with that :-/

It can be difficult living with a meat eater - I have been with OH for 31 years so the first 11 I was one too. We try and respect each others views although the sofa discussion was a bit heated, OH won on grounds of cleaning said sofa. I won when we replaced the dining chairs ;-)

Thanks for the TV link Captain. I will try and watch it, especially as I grew up near there before moving to the big smoke in my early teens.
