Snail: yes, it will only count the markers you go through after the start.

According to the notes on the 'Guide' page you can start your run wherever but the attempt won't start recording until you pass the start marker (I.e. you don't need to start your watch at the start!) And it will only register as an attempt after collecting 5 flags

My previous attempt at Garfield's course in Woking didn't register. When I started it the GPS trace was off and didn't see me as next to the Start marker, but I did go past all the other markers. I checked my GPS trace was close enough to them all. I actually did a loop and ended back at the start, and at the end the GPS trace was close to the start marker, but it didn't register as an attempt. I didn't have any markers after going past the start.
