In fairness I’ve averaged 8 miles per day of hilly walking and running since lockdown

Thanks all I am opting for a shorter run 7-8m with a walk home around 3-4m I am completing certainly not competing I know I have a long time still to go and from conversations with you all previously I know the plan I have had maybe too many long runs I just feel like I’m making excuses the past few weeks but I know I can’t wait to get out and do some longer runs. Thanks so much |

I did 9.5 it was a tough run so over the moon that I did it, we then walked 3.75m back. All miles and hours in my legs. And at one point t I was debating ringing to get picked up but I figured there will be times in the run I’ll not want to carry on & that’s when you have to dig deep so I did. Rar!!!

Me again!! Over in FB there is a group for people doing threshold events of which I’m doing race to the castle. There’s a lot iv chat about poles and people saying they benefits of having them. So I trust you guys - is it something that is worth having? They’re saying they come in useful esp as you get tired through the day. Thoughts? And if it’s a yes any particular recommendations or things to consider? Thanks as always. |

Never used them, but have club mates that love them (in the mountains), and they really seem to benefit on the down hills. Will get round to giving them a go at some stage. Jason Koop gets into the detail of poles on a recent podcast. Be warned, Koop likes to delve deep, deep, into the weeds! open.spotify.com |

Only if you know how to use them properly gg. - someone will be along at some point to give you better info, but from my perspective I have an adjustable set of walking poles that mum and youngest can both use efficiently for walking with me. I spent some of my walks in the hills last summer trying to learn how to use them to help with uphill stuff, but for them to be efficient there is definitely a knack. I need more practice with mine before I decide to carry them. |
