Maybe it's the races I do, but I don't look at equating times from one ultra to another. Even those with identical lengths and same total elevation.

Terrain and weather makes such a difference, I have 100 mile times ranging from 29hrs20min to 18hrs35min, with only a 3 month gap between the slow one and the fast one.

Mind are way off but my ultras are all flat eg my 50km prediction was almost an hour slower than what I did and the 100km was over 2 hours slower

I love this Fetch it makes me look better than predicted - that doesn't happen often, or maybe I 'should' be able to run a marathon quicker haha.

Fairly accurate for me, not that I could hope to get anywhere near my road marathon PB currently!

It's broadly accurate for me, but as Paul and Sam say, very dependent on the route. I ran two nominally 55k races, trail, about 1600m ascent, three months apart, and the second one took 40% longer, even though I was in better shape then with a recent 50 mile under my belt. Guess which one was in the lakes

2021 - Coniston LT marathon (7:26) was pretty close for that year's Lakeland - 21:54 vs 22:05 actual
back in 2014 my marathon time, 5:26, predicts an 8:45 50K (and I did 7:10) - that marathon time predicts about my ideal 50 mile time though, so maybe I have a target to aim for

I have to agree with Sam Jelfs and K5 GUS, the difference in times from a flat to a hilly/difficult terrain ultra of the same distance could be massive, and will throw off the averages. I've mostly done flat ones, so the times are way off.
If I change the marathon times to 2:09 🤣🤣🤣 it's pretty spot on for 50miles and 100k.

The 61 of us out on the NAV4 Ullswater Way & Challenge events yesterday were helping to test trackers for OpenTracking. Everyone carried two in their pack, rather than taped to it, the smaller one wasn't much bigger than an inch square and thinner than that. Intrigued to see what the battery life is like?
