Funnily enough one of the reasons I did the session was a bit of a break from the intensity of MD work. It was much easier than what I've been doing even if it was more volume. My speed has been good in the sessions I've been doing so made sense do something aimed at high endurance and will do an MD session on Saturday so my legs will get a reminder of speed before my 1500 next Wednesday. I've kept a decent volume up and double digit long runs going so base is solid.

The MD session was 3-5 x (1000m (5k p) - 90secs/100m jog - 500m (1500m p)) 4min rec. I've never done more than 3 reps and most people aren't getting past that especially at the intended paces.

4:26.90 for 1500 today. Annoyingly had a cold trying to break through since Saturday evening which has been low level but noticeable. HR has been fine and today was the best day since then so was hopefully that I'd be ok.

Wavelights were at 70 which was perfect for my goal, was on them till 800 then started to fade on the third lap (73-74 for that lap I believe so big drop in the 300 to 1100. Managed to pick finish semi decently.

HR lower than the race a few weeks ago so hopefully that just shows I was missing a bit due to the cold. Still my 5th fastest ever 1500 so still decent from that point of view. Just feel like after the opener there's more in the tank but can't do much about not being fully healthy.

That’s a great performance given you’ve been feeling under par for a few days. Definitely sounds as though there’s more to come.

Yesterday was my first TJ outing of the year after a very disrupted winter. Was looking forward to it, but I fell down a kerb at lunchtime and jarred my lower back. I couldn’t feel it on the warm-up, which went well. But in the competition it felt unstable and I couldn’t get any power into the jump phase, so best was about 1m down on last year. Feels like a missed opportunity as TJ only features in 2 of the local masters league matches a year, so I’ve now got once chance to nail it for the season!

Hi Cats Whiskers I expect your club is quite highly ranked in the athletics leagues but mine is always crying out for volunteers to jump and throw - especially B string. ESPECIALLY triple jump! AND there is usually provision for at least one non-scorer per club. Triple jump features every meet and there are three or four still to go for most clubs. Both my first and second claim clubs -Serpentine and Hastings - are in the SAL -there's a meet a week on Saturday.

Could that give you a few more opportunities?

What I mean by ^ that is I would never had enough chances to practice my events competitively if I'd relied only on Masters meets.

Thanks, SPR. It’s fine this morning, so just a muscle spasm I think.
