24 Jul 3000 could be a nice warm up for the Wimbledon 5000 but it's a bit of a trek for that. Re 800 yeah it will help the 15 massively. Something I need to do work on as my conversion from 8 to 15 is pretty decent so need to find more speed if I going to move my 15 potential up much further. |

First track meet of the year for me tonight which unfortunately is the 4th and final vets league fixture, having not been able to make any of the previous ones. Making up for missed opportunities (and due to low uptake) I find myself doing the 35A races for 800m, 400m & 3000m (in that order). Annoyingly it’s the 400m and 3000m where I think so really have room to improve on current PBs, but I don’t have great recovery. In my first ever vets fixture a couple of years ago I did a 57.9 400m, but it turned out they didn’t get a license *cry* Not managed to get sub-60 in my other couple of attempts. |

Race well @BeeDeeVV. That's a tough triple. I need an early season 400 one year. Maybe that should be part of sorting my speed out. |

Cheers. Looks like I have 35 minutes after the first event and 45 minutes after then second. Volunteered for the relay (200m) too 😂 There is an 800m loop outside the track, think I’ll use that for a cool down lap and then a warmup lap between events. Anyone have any recommendations about a routine for recovery/warmup between events? |

I take a short jog (say a mile) and then a few strides pre the next event normally I double although I've done 1500 and 3000/ 5000 on track league where it's been about 15-20 mins between so that would be just a few strides between events. For me the following events have just been training though, so I ease into them so can't be sure it works for giving it your all. @LBAC Si may have advice from his recent double where both were raced. @sharkey is someone that used to multi event on the sprint and field side and may have some useful advice. |

Kind of depends which of the events is most important to you. Obvs the 400 is the only sprint and you need to be fresh to get good time. Your results suggest your 8 is quite good, I'd weigh up the field and just do what you need to in the race! THEN just keep moving and do a couple of strides before the 4. Suspect that as an M40 you can deffo run sub 60. Do you do block starts? If so practice a couple beforehand. Raced 4s are TOUGH as I'm sure you know! I don't know anything about distance stuff. I'd follow SPR's advice. It's usually sound. |

And the results are in: 800m: 2:19.1 not troubling my PB 2:12.8. Lap 1 was about 67s, but then slowed when I realised I wouldn’t lose any points and was unlikely to get a PB or catch anyone. 400m: 59.7 and new (official) PB. 3000m: 10:26.7 and new PB. Then finished it all off with leg 1 of a 200m relay which felt awful. Happy with those 2 PBs (to go with road 5k PB earlier on Tuesday), and nice to break 2 arbitrary barriers, but feel there’s plenty more to aim at in the 400m and 3000m by targeting the specific events. |

3 x (400, 200) rec ~90 secs, 8 mins. Session PBs for two 400s then blow up last 400, recovered for a decent last 200. Weird to have such a differential on that last 400 Vs the first two as someone that usually gets pacing right but I think that a session like this needs to be on the edge. Also any combination of the 400s would be an 800 PB! |
