in cycling terms yes, although his weight has been a problem this year.

still a great rider, even greater to think probably the first track rider to win the tour, as opposed to Merckx who rode the track, but was a roadie.

Could he not go back to the track? I know it still takes a huge amount of work but he could be closer to his family? Incredible what he has done whatever happens next, just don't want to see him limping on as part of the pack, rather he did retire.

I read an interview where he said he would like to finish his career on the track in Beijing.

I'm sure he said, albeit inthe euphoria of the Olympics TT, that he wanted to continue to Rio?

Rio Johnny?

If he can get his sh!t together this years Worlds course looks like it could suit. But the Martin/Cancellara on form are almost unstoppable on similar courses.

I have a suspicion he may retire, although he may also just be having an off year, like Evans did last year after winning the Tour.

I find it quite reassuring that Sir Wiggo is a bit burned out at the moment after having had to put in so much work, and maintain such an artificially low weight, to achieve what he did last year. I wouldn't like to bet real money on whether he'll bounce back next season or whether he'll say, "Sod it, I'm set up for life, I don't need to do this to myself any more," and retire.

Aother stage win for Nibali, then?

Perhaps those guys who win massive bunch sprints for 2nd place on a stage aren't that daft after all.
