I don't wear my watch overnight, so I never get a lowest possible reading. Used to be 51 when I did measure it. Suspect high 50s now. :-) G

I don't wear my Garmin except when running. I record waking RHR, sleeping RHR isn't meaningful data IMHO.

Do you actively choose to sit and have a restful 10 minutes or something Shades, to see what "resting" really is? Otherwise if sitting working, sitting watching telly etc. your HR could be elevated for reasons of stress reactions etc.? Isn't sleeping the most "resting" you can be? Not trying to be argumentative, genuinely interested and confuzzled! :-) G

I'm similar to Shades. I had to actively calculate my HR, either when running or resting, so I've no idea about any daily trends I ever had. I only ever recorded straight after sleep just for consistency, especially in terms of your point about different stress reactions. I think the lowest was 34, but I had no idea whether there was any point doing so almost immediately after waking up. Been many years since I did given the HRM slowly died.

Be interesting to see any answers to your questions.

Isn’t there an odd algorithm with Garmin where if you wear the thing at night you don’t get your lowest RHR recorded?

I wear mine all day every day but remove it at night. My lowest number is generally when I’ve just put it on but prior to getting up or after finishing moderate but not hard exercise

I wear my fairly basic Garmin all the time. Have just seen RHR is 38 today.

I don't think it MEANS much unless there's a sustained substantial increase (or decrease I guess) but I admit to a small amount of POINTLESS smugness at mine being as low as it was in my 20s.

Garmin's rhr must be calculated on an average over a period of time as it doesn't display the lowest reading reached, I don't know what the period is though.

back to 37 - resting, it has been up at 45 most of the last week.
Sitting hr is ~50
not fit, it's always naturally been there.

(had to turn the alarm off on the Garmin, it was waking me up at 4am telling me hr is low)

Something more mundane than the mundane thread.

Quite simple really, today my resting heart rate is...
