It's completely irrelevant what your RHR compared to other people is, Happy. You can only compared to yourself over time.

54 today so still a bit elevated, no doubt impacted by a stressy night trying to fix my mam's emails which have stopped working and fighting with Microsoft...

Quite right Roop. Not getting massively worse with age, I guess that's the positive I'll try and take. Cheerie. :-) G

Although there is a general understanding that HR's below 60 is a good thing.

"A normal resting heart rate for adults ranges from 60 to 100 beats per minute. Generally, a lower heart rate at rest implies more efficient heart function and better cardiovascular fitness. For example, a well-trained athlete might have a normal resting heart rate closer to 40 beats per minute."

Mine has come down significantly since I started running, and the return to resting is much better than it was as a teen.

Even though I was reasonably fit and healthy before I ever considered becoming a runner!

37 currently, that’s drifted up a couple of beats from my best marathoning era around 2019 but I wouldn’t like to say whether that is fitness or age related.

That’s garmin’s assessed number, I can get it down to 31-32 when lying in bed. It’s basically genetic, other non-sporty family members are somewhat similar (perhaps a bit less extreme) and I don’t think it means I’m going to drop dead any time soon. Well, I’m too old now to die tragically young from some undiagnosed heart condition anyway!

About This Thread

Something more mundane than the mundane thread.

Quite simple really, today my resting heart rate is...

And if you fancy it - I had .... hours sleep
