Superb pics duo.
I agree with FF re coaching gg. Useful if you have a specific event you're focusing on otherwise it's ( cynical me I'm afraid) part of the relatively recent interest in all types of running and the easy way social media can connect in order to....make money for so many coaches . Do your own training plan gg! You're experienced enough for what you want to achieve.

I am indeed Steve and motivated to achieve my goals I have enjoyed it but it’s an expense I can drop and I’ve got a lot out of it. I’ll def hope to go back post surgery as Kazy has a lot of experience rehabbing after foot surgery.

This thread moves really quickly, and that is so inspirational. Duo I am so sorry you are on your fourth covid bout, nightmare.

Steve well done on the 500, perfect pacing for the 1000 in 2024.

GG the gym I go to the staff will happily put a programme together for you, and then they gentle nudge you into following it. It's a lot less formal than a coach, but it is all included.

Donnie, no running round the ERY here, but plenty of walking!!!!

We set off at and arrived back 44.5 miles later at 2208. I was actually amazed at how much I enjoyed it, and thanks to some very interesting people on the walk the miles flew by. I am not saying it was easy, but the 60 miles I did in three days a couple of weeks ago was the best preparation ever. Given I started in December with a three mile walk round town it was incredible to find I walked, in June, in one day 47.97 miles! Much of the route is part of the Wolds Challenge, which is a ultra race, if any of you fancy a good run in amazing countryside then it really is a good race.



Maybe I am biased because I live here, but it is fabulous countryside.

So taking it easy till Monday then back running, next challenge Minster Way (54 miles York to Beverley Minster) in a weekend.......

I don't as I run with my local running club and have done for a decade or so but I see Debbie and Karen regularly at events.

Amazing TT we're so spoilt for choice here in the UK with tons of beautiful routes.

I had an easy 5km last night (I'm not a morning runner unless I have company or it's a race) and I have a race tonight. I'll be running around a Glasgow park.

Great miles Tan Tan and super pics too. My wife is sorely missing ultra running which you're doing very well at. Hope the forthcoming Minster Way goes well.

The only coach I use takes a bus pass!
I think I settled into morning running thirty years ago when a relatively late work start (10am) gave me that opportunity.Prior to that work dictated that it was evenings.It did take a week or so to adapt but now the thought of an evening run doesn't appeal. My wife though seems to be ok whatever the time of day.
3.6 miles along trails was as usual this morning with maybe a fraction improvement! I want to notch up more summer miles because I just don't enjoy late November or December outings since I've been older😂

Great running Everyone

Decided to run along the old disused railway path for the 14 miler this morning as the canal path doesn’t have much shade.
I’m usually not too bad with heat but need a bit of acclimatising first!
Of course you get used to the heat and it’s back to cool again 😂

That sounds fab TanTan and looks stunning even on that one photo huge well done coming so far so quickly. The York to Beverley Minster sounds great too I love long point to points.

I’ve got a crazy day today made worse by taking a parcel to InPost to have no lockers free and to discover I have a flat tyre so all the extra faffing meant my run window disappeared- helping cousin prep her daughters 18th party this afternoon, I’ll do something longer tomorrow to blow away the Proseccowebs.

I do love a morning run but struggling to get up early enough these days I’m just constantly exhausted.

It’s Karen who is coaching me @duo duo she’s fab but she’s given so much to me the last 8/9 months I think someone else could benefit from her guidance.

There are lots of posts since my last one, and I can't comment individually. It's really good though how this thread has 'flourished' over the years. Well done everyone.

One of the daytime running bulbs in my car needs replacing. I had noticed that many cars only had one light working, so thought that I would check mine. Sure enough, only one working. I drove to the car accessories shop to purchase and have the new bulb fitted. They asked me to return this afternoon and they would fit it. It's not a straightforward job, and I believe that they have to remove the wing to get at it. The mechanic advised that it was mainly the shock of driving over all the potholes that was the cause.

I nearly had to put the bags down during this mornings Friday Farmers Walk. One of the bags handles ripped off as I was lifting it off the counter into the trolley. Thankfully, I was able to get a new bag, and transfer the contents of the old one into it.

I got a Monster Raving Loony Party leaflet through my letter box this morning!

Hi... not looking for sympathy, but this is where I'm at right now...Three runs this week and not one of them went to plan (Total of 16 miles, bringing the year's tally to 788 miles) Seem to run out of fuel very quickly after about four miles.
I'm sure that being Mrs M's carer has a lot to do with my running down-turn.
We have assessors coming from a local hospice this week, to discuss a care-plan and 'end-of-life' issues. Her MSA (Multiple System Atrophy) has brought her to a new 'low' over the last few weeks and there is very little that she can do for herself. But every day is a good one, and we thank God for every shared moment.
Hope to get out for a short run this afternoon after the O.T.'s visit.
