Give yourself a break MrM2 I too echo Steve's lovely words. I ran a park run today usual time around 30 mins. It was 3 loops 3 different loops. It also included 2 x out and back. I missed the second out and back and when I realised I should have gone back instead I kept going ended up doing another large loop this meant it was a personal worst in 39 minutes. I was so peed off. Sorry everyone I will read back now just needed to rant. |

Thanks Steve...and others, for kind words, support and encouragement (typical of the qualities I've experienced in most of my running encounters). JackFW... Sorry about the trainers! 'Keep showing up' ...I like that! TT ...Well done on your walking achievements! Hillstrider... All the best for your 10k race. Just to clarify the hospice situation: At the moment they are going to provide carers in the home as appropriate. They call it 'Home Hospice'. (Two assessors are visiting tomorrow.) Geordiegirl... Sounds like a serious fly-tipping experience! Duo... Trail races are fun, in theory...Our local parkrun (Chipping Norton School) is only a mile away but in three years I have only run it a handful of times. Half of it is like a trail run, and not worth the risk. (I've only tripped once) Dubai...Thanks for the pics.. Well done for keeping up some running in your conditions! LL... Yes, I'll be taking some days out. Sounds like your parkrun could have done with a few more marshals? Managed to get out for 6 miles yesterday and 7 miles today. All slow, but some hints of improvements. That takes me to 29 miles for the week and YTD: 801 miles. |

Congrats on the 800 milestone, MrM2. That’s a fantastic effort. DR, nice photos. It’s crazy to see the different conditions we all run. Yes - I only own one pair of runners. I bought a pair of Brooks Ghost yesterday as they were on special. First time wearing Brooks. They felt good when I tried them on. I was tempted to buy a second pair of “trail” runners but I held back. I try to limit the amount of material things I own where I can and my next race is a road race. LL, extra miles are never a bad thing, well maybe if it’s a race! Anyway, you won the distance category at parkrun. 12.5km this morning in very cold (by Australian standards), around 3 degrees, but beautifully sunny conditions with a light wind. Pelicans were spotted. The new runners felt great, very light and not too cushioned. YTD - 717 miles. How do I join the target list? Or is it too late? |

Ha ha Jack that’s one way of looking at it. You just set your target miles as 1000 and should automatically join the leaderboard. Look at the top tab for targets. |

@JackFW if you click on the circle with a head outline at the top of the page and scroll down you will see 2024 targets, on the right you can click to adjust. From your settings page you're able to add and move all sorts of stuff in your training logs. Some great stuff going on as always in here and nice to see you new RW folks settling in. Right it's time for me to get out and do a few miles of my own this morning. |

It's nice to see pics from other places around the world. Keep them coming. 3 degrees sounds pretty good, that can be a warmer day here in the winter. That's annoying LL, sounds like a very complicated route! When we set ours up we were advised to keep it simple - and it is. Fly tipping is a country wide problem, people don't want to pay to dump waste like that. We get it round here and it's usually not far away from the tip. It's really sad to see. Well done on all your runs this weekend folks. It's been hot here again. I did 12 miles yesterday, kept it flat and also did parkrun. My legs were still quite tired from Thursday. |

Lots of activity to read about here today. Everyone is doing splendidly at just past the half year point. That's quite a pace for walking hs, I can only presume you practice race walking too! Good distance done gg but a pity about the fly tipping, a problem which is nationwide and hard to prevent in many locations. Just twenty odd miles from here up in the Welsh Valley mountains there is regular fly tipping on the mountain I'm familiar with and which is way off the beaten track . Nice pics Dubai Runner and phew...well done on the 4.37 miles in that heat. Next time please make it 4.4....or whatever nice round figures you can do! 😂 ( gg and I have a hard psychological time reading these non rounded up miles!!) Love the pelican pics Jack and Ghost is a fine choice of shoe. Three loops can be difficult to keep track of LL so well done despite the confusion during the park run. Glad you didn't do any real damage to yourself duo, good running there on trails. Just 3 road miles this morning. Calm, dry and quiet everywhere. |
