18000m in one session then 10000 two days later - decent mileage there, Nellers.
For me a continuous steady 7000m this morning, after a couple of days off entertaining rellies. Felt good throughout and it was fractionally quicker than the previous 6000m at identical average and peak hr, so I'll bank that and move on.
Hmmm. Not sure about the 2k, although The Plan is an extended prep for one. My physiology seems to favour low and mid-range steady or tempo stuff rather than short sharp blast. Especially as I've got older (I'm 58) - I find the steady and aerobic stuff has remained more or less consistent but the top end has faded somewhat. Ditto with running.
Sorry Nellers! In my defence, I'm plotting a marathon attempt next spring so I'm getting in plenty of volume at the moment. Workouts like 5 x 3k & 3 x 30 mins are becoming staples, but I probably should think about implementing a proper plan sometime soon. Some great meterage your end too! Your plan sounds like it's working well too, Muttley!
One thing I'll say about volume - my erstwhile middle age spread is starting to show the suggestion of abs. I've never had abs. Body mass is remaining fairly steady, which I think (hope!) means muscle is going on and lard is coming off.
