Is the unit at the gym a PM3 or a PM5 monitor CW? If it's a PM3 it doesn't have wireless connection.

If it's a PM5 it will have the facility to connect wirelessly but that might need a firmware update to activate it.

If your gym are any good ask them to do the update. It's free on the Concept2 website. You just download it, put it on a USB stick and plug that into the back of the unit. It's magic.

On cables: No idea but I'd think all you need is a lightning to USB lead.

The USB connector on the PM3 itself is not yer standard USB but a different, slightly squarer one. Like the one here: shop-uk.concept2.com

Thanks, Nellers and Muttley. It's a PM5, so they should be able to update the firmware, but I'll also look at getting a cable as I sometimes go to a different gym where some of the machines only have a PM3.

I don’t know yet but it’ll be great to be involved.

Was going to row at the gym this morning but a combination of time pressure and the temperature of the room put me off.

Nice volunteering Sally Kate

Think it's a USB B connecter for the PM - used to be common printer cable, I got a USB a/b male to male to run diagnostics from laptop and install production firmware rather than beta had been running.

I'm still having all sorts of problems trying to get the PM5 to link to ErgData on phone or tablet, wireless or cabled :-( much resetting & rebooting & wasting the small windows I have faffing with the kit rather than rowing. Been switching off all the other devices in the house to ensure no interference too.

Another big endurance sesh for me yesterday. 3 x 4km keeping my HR below 155. Including Warm up and down that gave me a smidge more than 18km. I thought that would give me the "daily champ" title easily.

Cheers Mousey.;-)
