Can anyone advise how to do this please?

I have bought a running belt that will carry poles - it's uncomfortable and rides up, but the pole carry bit works well
amazon.co.uk

You can buy shorts with built in pole carriers, but not the 'short tights/cycle short' style

I'd like to attach the back half of the belt to the back of a pair of shorts to see if that works for me

I don't really know where to start as they are both stretchy materials - but different stretchy and I haven't sewn lycra before
- or got my machine out for anything other than hemming curtains for at least 10 years...

Try tacking it on by hand, or testing it with safety pins attaching the belt part you want to the shorts for a less permanent test initially.

If you don't have a stretch stitch on your machine you could stitch down the length of the shorts / belt rather than across, at intervals of an inch or so. Then they'll still stretch, the seam will be secure and you're not asking the stitches to stretch. Hope that makes sense!

Beautiful knitting shared earlier!

I finally got my daughter's dress to fit. The worst thing was the zip. I first did it without a special foot and it worked fine, just a bit fiddly. Then I had to take it out for the alteration and tried two cheapie invisible zip presser feet - neither worked, so I eventually reverted to plan A, using an ordinary foot.

Given that I feel as though I got a good result without a special foot, is it worth investing in a branded invisible zipper foot? They are about £20, which is why I tried cheap versions (less than a fiver). I guess it depends on how many invisible zips I anticipate working with.
