I love downward dog but I definitely need middle finger forward not index finger to get my wrist creases parallel to the edge of the mat.

I used to love fast-flowing dynamic practices such as Ashtanga and Jivamukti too but these days I prefer either a very slow vinyasa flow with longer holds, or full-on yin with 5 minutes holds :-)

My attitude to yoga is doing what feels good ...some poses just feel to awkward to feel I could benefit so I substitute for something different. Some of those poses that used to be awkward are now good.

Absolutely agree - it's all about finding what feels good for me :-)

I tend to do what my body needs - mainly yin and I like some strengthening poses thrown in to make the muscles work. I love downward dog and dolphin and deep lunges...and cobra and sphinx.

I'm on a bit of a cut back training week this week which has presented time and so have done 20 plus minutes every day this week.

Has felt very relaxed and not forced which I think is a by product of not having to rush to get to work or do other training.

That's good gobi. Have you felt a benefit from the daily yoga?

I have managed to maintain regular practice - most weekday mornings and I try to get a longer one in at the weekend too. It really sets me up for the day and even a 20 min practice is beneficial.

Sounds good Gobi. When I was teaching on Wednesday I discovered an imbalance in my left hip when doing extended side angle pose. Right side, very easy, left side, arrrgh! I guess I know what to work on now! :)

Hp - I'm reasonably regular anyway so no not really. It is my biggest disappointment with doing it. I know I have more mobility but I have not turned into a rubber man with fluid movement :-)

I have decided to learn to do Tree Pose , for many no issue but for someone with my back and ankle issues (I'm not exactly stable on 1 leg) this will be amusing and frustrating .

Good for balance...which I'm not always good at! Thanks for reminding me to do it too Gobi!

One tip is focus your gaze on a point straight ahead of you...to help with the balance. that determines how well my tree will be! Use your feet to aid in proprioception to stay upright. Start with foot on calf or just standing on one leg with knee raised in front of you to get accustomed to the sensation.

Indeed Garfield, very good points that I will be drumming into myself :-)
