I have just taken a punt and ordered a pair of Atreyu ‘The Artist’. Not sure when they’ll arrive as they come in from the US, but I was intrigued last time there was stock, so this time decided to click the button. With delivery they were around £120.

Worked out why the fuglies were hurting my feet. The lacing system has big hard lumps of plastic combined with a huge fat lace and the paper-thin tongue gives no protection. I’ve swapped the lace to a thinner one and will probably get used to it but it’s a triumph of fashion over function for sure.

Things I never though I would read about the fuglies.

Funnily enough I just found my old zoom flies that I'd forgotten I even had! Hidden under the shoe mountain.

Fuglies did the job today, a 30 sec course PB on a route I'd only done once before on a hot summer day. Not sure how much of that was down to fitness vs weather vs shoes (think I wore my proper VF last time) but the end result was certainly quite acceptable.

That sounds promising.

Mine aren't going to get an outing for quite a while yet. I've mostly got orienteering and trail races in mind and for faster stuff I've got a nearly-new pair of the 1st gen Hoka Carbon X.

I'm returning mine. Tried a 5 mile run on the treadmill but the upper seems to be rubbing the small toes on both feet. I expect I may have the same issue with the V2's as I've only ever used the V1's
