Hellen you are long overdue a half mara to race and get a HUUUUGE PB - but I guess it's hard to fit one in with all your longer stuff! x

I'll probably contradict this the other way...did my first real Half a couple of weeks ago in 1.32, will be doing another in two weeks and should be quicker (I was taking that first one steady :P), but I'll probably be looking at 3.30 in London...

First marathon sLickster? Always safest to pick a slower time than you'd normally expect.

sLickster - i think you can get that sub 3.30 in London but you have to make sure you've got your strategy correct in your head and stick to it and not chop and change at every turn of a corner. Good luck

Interesting comparing half marathon times to predicted (hoped for!) marathon times - seems to have split opinion! The plan I am following (from Run Less, Run Faster) thinks a 1.42 HM should be enough for 3.30 marathon however I think this is on the optimistic side - hence why I was pleased to bring my PB down to 1.37! My focus is currently on improving my fuelling strategy as I don't think I fuelled too well during Abingdon and also making sure that when I complete my 20 miler training runs, I actually have something "left in the tank" as during my training last year, I found I was bascally empty after 20 miles - which was reflective during the marathon.
Clare - have you done Abingdon before? Very flat course and thought it was a good one for a first one. Pretty well organised although not too much support around the course (especially the 2-3 miles - which you do twice - through a big industrial estate!!). Last year was also perfect racing weather - cool and dry!

I'm leaving this thread as after the Quadzilla I'm in no shape to go sub-3:30, think it will be a struggle to go sub-4. Best of luck to you all (although you guys and gals don't need luck, you've put the work in and I'm positive will achieve your goals).
