it was awful wasn't it? I did 22m solo which was hard going and required some serious manning up at times - no issues with the distance or pace but my hands were so cold! Half mara next weekend which I will race then a 20m race the following which I will do progressively. Not in the 3:30 league this spring but hoping to have a strong base to build on to give it a go in Autumn!

Which 20m race are you doing Clare? I'm doing Spitfire 20 down in Surrey which I think is also that weekend. First go at a 20-miler race although done a few in my training. Trying to think of it as a training run without the Camelbak but fear my competitive instinct will take over and I'll end up going quicker than planned!

Hey all, I've not been able to run for 2 weeks laid up with the chest infection which so many have had-did 16miles as my last run and still cough when I try to run and feel ridiculously weak...went on cross trainer yesterday which was ok but felt hard,Uhoh. Think only 7weeks to VLM and trying not to think of the lost fitness- anyone else out there suffering too?? BUT it WILL be ok I keep telling myself...

Deferring Manchester due to current injury that is going to put me back around 3 weeks at least. Dont want to go into under prepared. Very frustrated right now. No marathon for me this year, going to concentrate on 10ks mainly, with a few halfs dotted in. Il go for it next year. Good luck everyone else though.

Aww, Roberto, how frustrating for you. I hope it clears up soon and that the speedy stuff gives you a solid foundation to try again next year.

Struggling now.
Couldn't do 8mm pace for more than fifteen miles in today's Stafford 20.
I've blown it haven't I.

No, I wouldn't think so BV. You will be tired from marathon training mileage. I didn't think it was good practice to run more than that many PMP miles in one go - as it will impact subsequent training in the week ahead and potentially your race itself. Don't give up!

I managed 10 miles at around 8 minute/mile pace, not a chance of holding onto that for 26.2 miles, I've written off this year, maybe next year
