Jury is out on Muir, based on times, she's seems closer in 800 than 5000 to me, it's possible she has more potential in the 5000 though. Also possible she's a pure 1500 runner.

I agree SPR. 1500/mile seem to be her best distances. She’s got fantastic speed so I can see her moving up to 5000 and 10000 as she gets older and being a real contender.

puzzler - sidebar done.
Anyone else have Autumn plans (that are reasonably likely)?

Baz - "I am now on day 151 of a streak"
I'm not normally interested or impressed by streaks, but knowing you, this is noteworthy. No 1.1 mile streak savers in there, I bet.
That said, don't go daft. You *could* run 4000 miles this year, but please don't. ;-)

Short holiday just taken, but only locally with family. Antrim coast is great for running and golf, but no-one goes for the weather. Which was shite. Anyway, still trundling out about 3x/week here now that work is back full time.

In news that most of you won't care about, and WW won't be impressed by, I broke 90 yesterday for the first time since I was a teenager. I estimate this is the golf equivalent of a 4.00 marathon :-)

PtB's post got me to project Baz's mileage out for the rest of the year based on July and I get 3,919! Can definitely see the temptation to go for 4,000 there, lol.

TBF, if there aren't any races, no reason to not push the boat out a bit and add a bit more volume.

On the other hand, given endurance is your strength, it does provide an opportunity to work on speed which is a relative weakness.

PtB - I may or may not be in VLM on 3rd October ! lets see what happens and if its on what I decide to do.

I did post details on the Streaky Bacon thread when I hit day 150 in my streak. My last rest day was on 2nd March and I would have been due one when VLM was postponed on 13 March. I was on holiday w/b 16 March so ran every day. Then lockdown happened and I changed my training to a HADD based approach and as we were only allowed out once per day, I just ran each day. I think somewhere in the 80s I realised I had a streak going and decided I had to get to 100. Me being me, now I have started its hard to stop

I did find that following HADD while its big miles its not as intense and so recovery is less of an issue. I think I average about 10.5 miles per day. Shortest run was 3.9 miles but that was in a day where I ran twice so totalled 10. Shortest day was 5.5 miles I think.

Assuming I dont get injured and I have a year with no marathon taper and recovery I will post a record mileage, but I dont think I will reach 4000. Well, actually I have started playing Who Squres Wins and in last weeks multiplayer final it took 100+ miles run along with significant walking and cycling to win. Lets hope I dont end up there.

And sorry, not having talk of a sub 90 for some other sport. I had initially thought you did a half marathon.

SPR, good point on speed. I did have a glute/hamstring niggle when I did some 100m strides way back in March and that in part was why I dropped speedwork and went to HADD. HADD I know from experience will give me a stronger base for when I do bring in speedwork, the question is just when I do that.

X-post, if you're doing 100 mile weeks, 4000 will be a breeze, lol.

I thought sub 90 HM as well at first, lol.

lol, I did once dabble with 90 mile weeks and picked up an overuse injury that needed a weeks rest and so I havent planned to run that much again. Being honest I think I jumped from 70 to 90 and then did 3 weeks of 90, so probably not surprising my body forced me to take a rest. I have been about 75-77 the last few weeks and thats as far as I plan to go.

X-post again.

Baz - Read the Hadd PDF again. There's a 100/ 100 (or 200/ 200) session that's part of base phase.

Hard posted about both sessions but one was in the PDF but the other is on Letsrun somewhere.

You're way above the mileage for adding them in. Key is to maybe do a few a couple of sessions below a speed you can manage for adaptation purposes.

Good shout. I know I am still on the original phase and maybe now is the time to move forward. I have seen about a 30 second per mile improvement for the sub LT runs.
