Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Yeah, I suppose if you are looking for a PB, then you'll lose some time on the brae, and probably not make it all up in the final downhill, so would need to be a bit up on pb pace at end of long straight.

Just checked my best run there, was average 6:27 at bottom of the hill and ended with a 6:29 overall average, can't remember what direction wind was that year though.

There again, you're probably better at keeping the pace up the hill than I am !

Have a great run, looking forward to seeing the results come in, know a load of folk running it from the club

I checked and it looks to be about 20-25 seconds I have lost on the hill in the past and maybe make 10 of those back - although in my PB race I got a stitch coming down the hill to the finish and had to slow down until it eased off.

I am rubbish at hills, so ideally want to have something held back to try and push up it

Good luck Bazo - if I can get out my bed I may waddle up menstrie Brae to “encourage” runners on the hill. I have got to the hugely pregnant stage so I may be staying at bottom of hill if I do go through!!!

Thanks for the detailed description Chris. Sounds like an absolute killer to me. I did some 200 sessions earlier in the spring, far less reps and far longer recovery. They nearly killed me, let alone that one!!

Give me a few MP miles any time!!

Have fun tomorrow Baz. Somehow, magically, you’ll dial in to the correct effort and the pace will set itself. Don’t get scared if it feels good but looks fast.....

WW, I run my 30/30s at 2 mile pace (so midway between mile and 5k as a rough guide). It gets the HR up around threshold after the first 4-5 and ideally you are floating around there for the 20 minutes of the session.

I run mine around a boating lake and just programme 30 on 30 rest into the watch. Doesn't stress the legs much but you get the threshold benefits and VO2 max for the lungs and get the legs turning over too.

Good luck Baz!

WW - train into it, if you do them regularly, you get over the initial pain that starts round rep 3 or 4, and it only starts really kicking in round 7 or 8.

No excuses from Bazo today - it’s the most gorgeous morning out on the foothills - very light breeze, 7 degrees. I’ve parked the car and waddling to the hilliest part of the course. Literally PB conditions today!!

He’s flying - smoke coming out the vaporflys. And he can talk halfway up the hill - fingers crossed !!!!
