Well I saw Steve and gave him a shout at about mile 8 but he didn't hear me as he had earphones. He'll likely come past me a couple more times.

Hope SailorSteve has a good run.

No luck in marathons imo.

I agree that P&D is a hardcore schedule. When I was training for Southampton I told my boss I had got up at 5.30am to run 12 before work and I had 22 to run this Sunday he couldn’t believe his ears :-)

Just seen Steve again at 15 miles, he saw me this time, looking relaxed. He'll come past me a couple more times if I stay where I am but I might go to the finish. BRAT in third ATM, leaders a fair way ahead though.

Oh there is luck in marathons. Weather. Illness. The crowds lobbing bottles under your feet (ends plenty of people's marathons prematurely). Controlling if you peak that week, or the week before.

Hope Steve is digging in now, and on target still, I'm looking forward to a detailed account of how the course etc was, as plan to run it next year. Now considering how well today's 15 miles will go on yesterday's twisted ankle!

While waiting for results to come in, can I pose a question for those that race in lighter shoes.

I presume that these shoes need worn in and used once or twice on reasonable length runs to ensure that there are no issues and thereafter used purely for racing or maybe as a tester a few times before a distance race

I would appreciate folks approaches to lighter shoes.

BRAT club ended up 1 and 3! The two guys that ran for England at Chester last week! Absolutely smashing it 😀.

Didn't spot Steve again as it all got crowded as the second wave joined the course. Hope it went well for him.

I saw that there were 2 starts an hour apart. How did that work and sounds like it was a lapped course !

PS - big respect for people who have been out running hard or racing again and for those multi marathoners. I did 5 clunky miles yesterday and 8 slightly less clunky today. However there is no way I could have put any real pace into my running so soon after a marathon.

It just about worked for the leaders and maybe up to 3 hrs. Further down you might have got swamped by slower runners on their starting lap while you were on your second.
