Larks you need to smash your 10M and HM PBs soon!

Today I did my 8miles with 3x 1600m. My 1600’s were 6:22, 6:12 and 6:16 for a total just below my 5K PB, happy with that. Run back from the track was pretty as well. I’m hoping my legs are on their way to be lovely and fresh in a week and a half.

After all the waiting my RB handicap improved by 0.1 to 4.7. However last week it was 4.7 but had dropped to 4.8 due to lack of recent races and so I am back where I started.

In fact after my 18:59 parkrun I was briefly 4.6 but quickly dropped to 4.8. PAH

Happy - the SSS and vSSS is what makes RB's handicap good tbh.

Larkim - are those percentages from the rankings on the right hand side? Being a track runner and not yet ranked (need 16:45 for 5000m, 4:20 for 1500m), I don't have any.

Baz - I'm interested to see what happens to my ranking over XC season as I'll only race once or twice a month from Nov to Feb.

TBH the only thing that I can see that would fool the handicap system is loads of faster runners jogging a parkrun because they have a target race the next day.

jda (or other Jack daniels followers), can I ask a couple of Qs on Jack Daniels plan.I am looking at my book again but still get scared by whichever plan I look at.

First - What is the plan that you follow ? I am looking at the 2Q Up to 70 mile (or up to 85) plans. I also looked at the 12 week plan. I dont see different levels which you have described previously

Second - My worry is only 2 x 20 milers. Do you only do 2 x 20, its only if I get to the 101-120 miles per week that it has 20 milers, which are then most weeks

Also my observation is that some of those Q sessions are monsters

Larkim - In looking at other runners that are ranked for track races, I realise that RB only shows percentages for road races.

Bazo, I've got the previous edition of the book and do the A plan out of that, maybe I should post up the plan somewhere. It has 6 or 7 full length long runs in the 18 week plan that I do, and though some of the Q sessions are quite tough they are manageable IMO. Nothing like the elite plan which is just crazy, must be aimed at true senior elites rather than us veteran hobbyists. I like its flexibility and believe the science behind it.

This page comparing marathon plans might be interesting to some on this thread: fellrnr.com

Obviously based on the writer's feelings on what's important.
