Just learned that I knew the guy who passed away. Had raced him a few times, and we followed each other on Strava. That's way too close to home.
I only met him to talk to a few times at the end of races or at parkrun, but I know he had a young family, and whilst it doesn't matter if you're young or old, married or unmarried, father or not, I can't imagine what his family must be going through today.
RIP Trevor.

This is probably unworkable but perhaps we can agree an hour's 'pause' on the thread at a time to be agreed to show our respect for a fellow runner passing. I am sure we will all pause to reflect in our own ways.

Horrible news, sorry to hear about that Larkim.
otg, nice idea but I'm not sure that'd be workable. Imagine being the person who didn't get 'the memo' and unwittingly posting in an hours silence - You could ask fetch to lock the thread for an hour if that's something do-able on these boards?

I did think about whether or not to post given he was a stranger to all on here, but I think the respect is paid simply in acknowledging his passing.
If there is any event to mark his life as a runner, I'm sure I'll carry the thoughts of runners on this thread, and elsewhere, with me if I have the chance to take part.

Very sad news. Condolences to family and friends. Would be happy to take part in a gesture to show respect or contribute to a small fund if anyone wants to start one. It was a wonderful event, full of very friendly and supportive volunteers and fellow runners, doing something that we all love. Terribly sad to be the occasion for such a tragedy.
Similar to Bazo, saw the ambulance arrive on course as we were leaving then rush through the town as we were heading to hotel. Didn't realise such an awful thing had just happened.
