Can't offer any advice on that one, I'm afraid. I have a teacher's pension which I'm now taking. Also have an AVC pot which I haven't started taking yet. Don't know if there was ever an option to transfer those funds into the TPS but glad I kept it separate TBH.

Depends what you’re getting for your money I guess. Extra years are nice, but you might not live long enough to see the benefit, the lump sum is flexible and separate. I’ve never had the option, so can’t really advise.

I’m in my early 40s so the years would be helpful but I really don’t want to crystallise the losses this year. And if at age 55 I have terminal cancer for example I’d rather be able to spend it on whatever my bucketlist is |

Having separate pots might offer flexibility but worth looking at charges and getting some quotes to weigh up Options. |

I reckon I have 23 months to go, but I see the pension has recovered about 1/3rd of its losses in recent times.

Another colleague finished yesterday. This one is day-trading part of his pension pot as a full time job. Not for me. G

Sounds risky. I know someone who retired at 50 after being made redundant and planned to top up his pension playing online poker. I saw him a few years ago and still retired but seemed to have given up on the poker. |
