So little left I was tempted to let it run it’s course. Surprisingly it cost an extra £113 in early redemption costs for the privilege of being debt free !

Self employed now for 2 days a week.

I may train for an Ironman or something equally stupid 😁

Nothing stupid about training for an Ironman, it’s a magnificent use of a retired life 😀. In fact training for an Ironman while working full time is much closer to stupid…..

Congrats Jef.

Congrats, Jef, I'm sure you'll feel more upbeat about it all after a few days relaxation.

Let me recommend a Bob Graham Round. That will really keep you out of trouble.

Congrats Jef. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Well jel.

Someone said to me to keep a v small balance on your mortgage as its the cheapest source of emergency credit. Would anyone recommend? :-) G

It also used to be recommended a handy way of getting them to look after the paperwork, but perhaps there is no paperwork these days....

jda - that was suggestd to me .. pay it all off apart form £1 and they continue to keep the deeds/paperwork etc.

We ignored it and had the fun of reading through it all. Lots of Orchard and farm details before the houses were built in 1980s. We've managed to keep the docs safe for the last 10 years or so.

Speaking as an ex-Credit Risk person, having a mortgage balance which has never been in arrears always works wonders for your credit score.
