I must write my will. Have to think about what to do with the Fields fortune such as it is. Will all go to my nieces I expect
Must ask s-i-l to be executor when I see her next.

We received some yellowed paperwork about 3 months after the mortgage was paid off (Scotland).
I had considered keeping it going for a while as the offset nature meant l=money was there if I really needed it, but think it was only 3 month away from being due anyway and I anticipate any extension of term may have been costly

I see it may be time for my occasional reminder to all to please please please write your will if you don’t have one.
My sister’s saga is still ongoing after more than 4 years and it’s also holding up my father’s will since he died 2 years ago. It’s really not a very difficult job to do and particularly stupid in her case as she’d had 4 years of cancer to think about it (but not actually do it). But anyone can get run over by a bus tomorrow (well not round here, there are no buses, but YKWIM).

I have a 25? year old will that just hasn't been updated - the only difference would be addresses as son is still sole only heir Mr Pix got an updated free will through his union a couple of years ago both are in the pouf in the lounge!

Must see if my union offer anything. Is it October when there’s a “Will month” and solicitors offer it for a cheaper price?

I’ve no children, only one sister who I don’t particularly get on with. My wife only has a brother who has no children either. It’s quite difficult to know who to leave anything to.
We should definitely do something though. If it was up to me it’s just a case of a few deserving charities.

IME all solicitors offer a will for a pretty low charge. I reckon they see it as a loss-leader to establish a relationship (perhaps including executor).
If it’s really simple then DIY is also perfectly reasonable.

mum and dad have mirrored wills so nothing dished out until mum goes
they did the charity donations to reduce inheritance tax (I will get clobbered) I think otherwise it's Me Mr Pix and Gnome Her house is a state! I expect I will have to get house clearance in to get it sold quick enough (if possible as it's not a run of the mill property) without having to get a loan for inheritance tax 'cos I think you have to pay up in 6mths don't you?

My will could do with a bit of updating. I know who I'm leaving it all too, I'm having trouble deciding who will be my executors.
