jda I am domiciled but my solicitor was surprised, as was I, to find that in this case Dutch law prevails... So it was easier and cheaper to do it in the Netherlands... I do need a translated copy, I can do this myself as a sworn translator, and deposit it with a British lawyer who will also have power of attorney over they English side of things... Now that we have left the EU this is even more relevant...

I have a 25? year old will that just hasn't been updated - the only difference would be addresses as son is still sole only heir Mr Pix got an updated free will through his union a couple of years ago both are in the pouf in the lounge!
My will just needs tweaked a bit since the arrival of my second grandson.
My dad is going to be a bloody nightmare when his time is up. Dementia has taken over and no POA in place. A house full of stuff and god knows what it’s worth. He has property in England and we are all in Scotland so it will be a nightmare to empty and sell

We did our wills in 2010, and we'll update them again in a couple of years when Sian is approaching 18 to remove all the guardian provisions.

Any recommendations for online wills? I could go to a solicitor but just wondering whether one of the online versions would suffice.

My solicitor or whatever she is, to be fair, gave a lot of guidance and value-add - I think she was worth the money on this one even if she was less useful with the LPA stuff.

My XH and I had guardianship in place for any children we might have until they were 25, and from the amount of fecklessness my children retained into their mid-20s I think this wasn't a bad plan. It's probably not necessary now.

Our advisor also advised a severance of the joint tenancy so that each owns a 50% share. This provides lifetime asset protection. On first death, the surviving spouse would inherit a life interest in the other half. The house could be sold and another bought, surplus funds could be invested to produce an income for the survivor. On second death, the children would be guaranteed the capital.

Plans in place to pay the mortgage off by end August.
The devil on the left shoulder says buy a campervan. The devil on the right says pay off mortgage.
The devil on the right side has the sharper pitchfork (at the moment....)
