I finish at Christmas, and I must admit I'm finding these last few weeks a struggle: I worked 3 days a week Jul21-Jul22, but have now gone back up to 4 days a week (in last six months before retirement, if you work full time, then the company gives you one day paid leave a week as a retirement rundown, so it made sense to go back to 4 days and get paid for 5). I'm responsible for coordinating the work of six or eight people to produce the 2023 version of our software suite. It's a strange feeling: we'll release at Christmas, so I've got the slog of getting it ready, but no consequences - if after it's released a user finds a problem - it won't be my problem! There's this prize (retirement) on the horizon, but it's just out of reach at the moment! (I do realise and appreciate that I'm in a very privileged position to be able to retire aged 62) |
