I’ve been part time for nearly 35 years. Never went back full time after having my son. Work 25 hours a week which is okay as I finish at 1.30pm but it’s the fact I no longer enjoy my job.

Yes, cost of living is going to mess with a lot of calculations - for those thinking of retiring, and those of us semi and full retired.
I've noted that any pension increase is capped at 5%, so 9% inflation is a 4% pay cut.
Also noted my mortgage is sneaking up, been small increments but I checked back and its up about £75 from a year ago.
Winter fuel is looking utterly horrific. I've managed to build up a £300 buffer and was going to scale back payments to keep it around there, but now I'm going to keep at the same payment level and hope to have around £600Cr to soften the blow that's coming.
Few other plans being made, and definitely time to buckle up.

yes we did an income expenditure thing in Feb with IFA and that's rubbish now! This heat is annoying me as it's stopping me run commuting and making me use the car daily which I dislike now! As we're on a fixed rate for fuel come October we will probably lose most of the amount we currently put into savings to fuel we had estimated in retirement we would need an income of 2.3-2.5k a month but that was before fuel increases for both cars and houses and the increasing costs of food

I've had a go at a budget for "in 5 years" or whenever some kind of retirement or at least change in working comes for me. There will be no mortgage but looking at how much we spend just on food, home insurance, council tax, car(s) and of course energy, it's still a huge outgoing (even without the mortgage). Hmm...

Some of our additional costs will be offset by us not going abroad on holiday until travel becomes less of a potential nightmare.

my HI renewal is up £50 too! we don't go abroad so that's a non issue and haven't been away for 2+ years but if we do it will probably be more expensive due to cats (cattery or somewhere we can all go together!)
