My ancestry is pretty much south east London, with some distant Norfolk and Yorkshire connections. I guess I’ll have to stay where I am.

I thought I had an Irish grandparent, but she was actually born in Scotland and Dad thinks her parents were also born in Scotland and it's their parents who came from Ireland. So a little too remote. But in a year or two I'll have an Irish daughter, by residence.

Husband could have a Hungarian passport - think the kids could too but they would need to learn a bit more of the language than their current colourful vocab - but he has no interest in travelling in Europe - we've had hols abroad three times in 30 years. So hasn't bothered getting one. I'm hoping that we will get more chance to travel when he gets around to retiring - hoping I can persuade him that spending winters in Spain/Portugal is a good idea. |

Just thought I'd pop my head in here and have a look. Just because. I'm 56, nearly 57. Although I can't afford to, can I seek this groups permission to retire now, please?

Is that something that’s still possible? Sorry Dio, that window closed on 31/01/2020. There are still ways to get residency but they are now more restrictive and place some financial barriers in the way as well. |

We have a few days away nearly every month, with a couple of those being 3-4 weeks, thanks to being retired. We tend to stick to the UK but I’m not complaining. We are going to Wales next week. Being retired has also made house moving simpler, instead of trying to fit in things around a day job. |

have printed my resignation and placed it on boss's desk (far too early for him!) I've said my last day in the office is Friday 20th June |
