Ha - Dyer is someone who interests me a lot and I have several of his books and there's lots of good things that never quite marry up to something great. And occasionally he just really annoys me too.

Yes, precisely that. I think I may need to blog about GD...

Before I read Dio's comments above I ploughed on into Restless and am now a chapter in.

Chrisull - Me too re Dyer. I've got/read loads of his - but nothing since about 2005. (EEK!) That said, one of his novels 'Paris Trance' was a big favourite of mine (and Raffo's) - although as per I don't know how I'd feel about it nearly twenty years on.

Dio - I own but have never finished The Dud Avocado - was so sure I'd love it too. Hope you fare better.

Just can't cope with Woolf. I know. Heresy.

Any Human Heart is one of my all-time favourite novels, McG. Restless is an example of what I feel about Boyd - that he is capable of excellent writing but then churns out stuff that is workaday at best.

What Daisy said.

There was a good TV adaptation of AHH.

Finished Feet in the Clouds last night. That Achilles thing next.

I’ve not read TRTLD for fear of it being no good. This makes no sense anywhere except in my head. I’ve never read the last few Terry Pratchett novels for the same reason.
