Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

[there’s a precedent for this - I saved the last two completed PO’Bs until I ‘needed’ them, and the one before last is a cast iron shocker. Worst book in the series by so far it hurts. Mercifully the last one is actually really good, just a bit short]

The Road to Little Dribbing. At least, that’s my guess, since it was mentioned not far back.

And Patrick O’Brien, yes. Which he was the very author of the world.

Taken as a whole the Aubrey/Maturin books are my favourite novel. Or nineteen of them are anyway.

Not quite halfway through Restless and either despite or because of the low expectations I brought to it, I’m really enjoying it. Quite page-turnery.

Boyd is always readable.

Bill Bryson is off to Tenby this morning, I’m looking forward to joining him in another place I know.

There was a short chapter in the mermaid and Mrs Hancock which was so immensely enjoyable it made the whole book worthwhile. An unexpected treat

If I'm not mistaken, there are a number of books which all have the same very short chapter: "Nothing else happened the rest of the night".

I think Stephen King has used it as has Ray Bradbury, but I thiiiink the original was Mark Twain.

I’ve ready many books that cover whole epochs in which nothing happens
