I have 209 miles to go to reach 700 for the year. That’s a challenging target, but not impossible. It amounts to about 25 miles a week which is quite doable, especially with no football at the weekends until early December at least.

Ohh, maybe. Definitely makes standing up harder. But also I can’t squat as low with my arms overhead, like my elbows are connected to my hamstrings or something. (I AM the kind of doctor who should be able to work that out...but I CBA at the moment.)

I'm a big fan of sitting on the sofa... but you have to decide that's what you're going to do rather than drift on to it wondering why you're there and why you're not doing anything about it.
House chores does not sound very cool at all. Getting someone else to do them might work....

- house chores involve things like smashing up and taking to the top two old nasty pieces of furniture that I can't wait to be rid of, so not all bad

My coach is a big fan of low squats and low lunges with your hands overhead.
In a sandpit. It's incredibly tiring.
