Hurt my back runner about 4 weeks ago and the physio has me doing some strengthen excercises with 2 x5Kg weights. Not sure if this is 'heavy' but it's hard work!

I have been doing hula hooping frequently these days to strengthen my core, clock wise and anti clock wise rotations

I decided on the weekend that I would quite like to have some nicer abs. Not like a full-on six pack, although if I woke up with that, I wouldn't go "oh no"
No, I mean just a bit firmer, and a bit stronger.
I need to do something sustainable, so I've decided the best trigger is to include a ten minute bout of faffing after each time I run. That's usually 3-4 times a week, so it's hopefully sustainable and enough to make a difference.
I've done it twice so far, and have kept it simple. It looks like this:
3 x 20 "lie on your back in the classic 'sit up' position, and then lift head and shoulders off the ground, enough to activate the abs what go down the middle"
3 x 12 "knees to the left side, doing little sit ups to activate the abs what go down the right"
3 x 12 "ditto, but the other side"
1 x "hands and toes plank, for as long as I can go, which is currently 60 seconds followed by panting and swearing"
I will report back on progress

I am trying to follow the pfzitinger link below which is similar but with added bridge - plus on tummy alternate hand and feet. So far that’s kept the backache at bay. I can’t do the staff though it’s pitiful

I've been instructed to do a set of weighted walking squats and lunges (over 20m) once a week for abs and glute activation. All with a 3kg medicine ball, (5kg for blokes)
It's pretty tough but I am convinced it will work if manage to do it properly for 6 weeks.
Speaking from experience I am a firm believer that the best 'core' stuff is involves you moving your body in a not dissimilar way to running (and jumping or whatever).
Perhaps I should check in once a week.

You’re probably right Sharkie my worry is not putting pressure on my heel until the plantar fasciitis is thoroughly beaten. This is much better than nothing and my heel likes all the stretchiness
