Think I might join in, just for a bit of extra motivation to do stuff at home.

I've had this thread on watch for years, but now it's been bumped I'd like to declare participation. Since April I've been seeing a sports therapist who has been progressively building back me up after my body broke down during marathon training. It's been a hard slog, and I've got a list of exercises as long as my arm. I had been doing them religiously since April (nearly daily) until about two weeks ago when I started to slack off. Since then, I've only done one session in two weeks. Great that this thread is active again. I'm about to go to the gym to get back on to it! |

I will join in too, really want to build up my core strength, I really feel my lower back on longer runs and next year I am planning an Ultra. Just watched the core x video, I don't think I could manage the last exercise. The v-sits will be a struggle too. |

Good to hear that all that work is doing such a good injury prevention job HappyG. I have just done 10 minutes - Core X followed by a 5 minute medicine ball routine. Tick. |

I say that I did Core X but must own up to having had to do a girly version of the last exercise. I can barely do a full press up, let alone launch myself into the air.

My press-ups are definitely girly, when I do them at all. At present I'm following a schedule aiming towards a half-marathon in September; it has me running 3 times a week, and at other times it tells me "cross training" but doesn't specify what. I swim once a week. Need some motivation for other types of cross-training. Will pursue the links, which look interesting.

Great idea, thanks for bumping the thread, Liliaicha. My aim: I'll try to do 3x 15 min of strengthening exercises each week for marathon training. Week 1 of the resolution: I did 18 min for hips, glutes and legs on Monday and now 15 min standing core exercises. One more session to do for this week. Let's see if I can muster the courage and attempt a hard core session on Friday. I always fail miserably with the V sits - I usually tip over backwards as I have no balance at all when balancing on my bum. Any tips how to tackle that problem? Thanks in advance. |
