Good progress whichever way you look at it Susie. Well done. Glad Scribs (qualified PT after all!) backed up my general points.

I've made 2 or 3 x core sessions a week at the gym part of my weekly routine. I can vary it (more, less, concentrate on one thing or do a range etc.) within that, but Fetch helps - I try to keep the goal of doing at least 1/3 of my training as non-running e.g. if I do 6 hours running in a week, I try to do 3 hours non-running.

It's as good a yard stick as any!

I'm a bit behind at mo, because I'm ultra training so the long runs are really slow and 10+ running hours per week is tough to keep non-running up to that level! 2.5-30 hours non-running is usually my tops! :-)G

The Scribbler
I did 3 min plank at the end of my PT workout today, but it was 30 secs front then 30 secs each side and repeat. My PT (who is proper qualified) agreed that that's much better functional fitness. I was surprised I could manage 3 mins total like that after a tough session.

There's always a bit of core work in my PT sessions either as part of the exercise or a specific set towards the end. And I do a short core class at the gym most weeks. I'm going to missi t tomorrow, so there's a reminder that I should do my own set at home.

Thanks for updating the links Keefy

I had got into the habit of doing core work and then slipped out of it last week as I found it hard to fit in during a high mileage week. I did Core H and Myrtl yesterday though, inspired by the revival of this thread.

No TT, but 1/3 of 9 hours (6 run + 3 non-run) is! :-P Perhaps it would have been easier if I'd said my non-run to be 1/2 of my run. Same thing tho! :-)G

I'm same becca, I like this thread as a good reminder. Scribs, I also do quite a bit of core within Pilates, Bodypump etc. and do try to concentrate on it in all gym work. Off to revisit P&D core link... Thanks Keefy. :-)G

That reminds me, the other reason why I did not do any core last week, now I recall, was that I did a couple of Insanity DVD workouts.
