The taller plant on the left of the pic is really quite sickly now and I’d be surprised if it lasts very long 🙁

I put my seedlings (seed leaves plus one pair of proper leaves for most of them) outside for an hour on Saturday and accidentally left them out overnight. It wasn't frosty and they look OK. They're back out for the day today.

My second batch is a bit lacklustre so far. Two sprouts after 8 days.

I had 11 out of 12 seeds germinate. I had double-sowed and was going to be ruthless and throw any extra seedlings away ... then I couldn't. Fished them out and put them in another tray. Potted on first 6 yesterday, maybe do others today. Tallest maybe 8cm. Still to plant second pack of smaller sunflowers (I've been very lazy).

Mine are going ok still. Still being looked after by my class. Will get a sneaky photo before they come into class tomorrow. :)

OK - this years Competition.

The Roolz

1. Begins when you can

4. Disasters are to be posted so we can all laugh/commiserate/laugh at them

5. All forms of growing aids are allowed. There's no drug testing in this competition so if you find the Lance Armstrong of Sunflowers - grow it and win !

6. Bigleggy always wins ;-)
7. As the national flower of Ukraine is the Sunflower, the Russian Giant variety is banned.
